Yes, there's been quite a few of these diaries up here in recent days. And truth be told, I hope we keep seeing 'em, for each one chronicles another vote toward victory.
So here goes -- I voted for Obama this evening in Las Vegas. And I brought a second voter to tag along -- my young brother-in-law, who was about as excited as I was to join in the building Nevada tidal wave for Barack Obama.
He's one of those sub-25 infrequent voters that some pollsters insist won't show up. I know enough people in this group to know that the pollsters are full of it. They love Obama -- and all they can think about is the opportunity to vote for him.
This evening, we did.
If you haven't had the pleasure of doing so yet, folks, let me tell you... voting for Barack Obama is a pretty heady moment. I about put my finger through the touch screen when I punched the Obama-Biden ticket!
"That one's for you, my man!" I half-whispered as the machine wobbled wildly. One of the election monitors looked at me somewhat strangely, but I didn't care... I was making history here!
So I lingered for a moment, as the paper receipt rolled up for my review. My eyes lingered on "Obama-Biden" for a few minutes. Finally, after all these months... finally, I'm casting my vote!
My brother-in-law and I left the mall in high spirits, passing a guy with a Bill Clinton mask and an "I Voted" sticker on his chest. (Didn't ask who he voted for.) As for my "I Voted" sticker, it ended up right next to my Obama bumper sticker on my car. (Take THAT, Republicans!)
So notch two more votes for Obama in Nevada.
But the really good news? We're hardly alone in the Silver State.
As of Wednesday, 113,201 voters had early voted in Clark County, Nevada.
Nearly 65,000 of them were Democrats -- a 2-1 advantage over Republicans.
In my congressional district -- the closely contested CD3 -- Democrats hold a 16,000-voter advantage so far out of 65,000 votes cast. (Bye bye, Jon Porter... can you say Congresswoman Dina Titus?)
So if you haven't voted already, let me tell you... it's damn fulfilling to punch that ticket for Barack Obama.
And it's even more fulfilling if you bring a Democratic-minded voter along when you do it.
